We are Tay Vets

A family run local practice, serving Dundee and surroundings, that puts you and your pets' feelings first

Helping your pets Get Better Since 1974

A friendly practice who will do everything to help you and your pets

We pride ourselves on providing an efficient, effective and friendly service for all pets. The practice started out over 35 years ago in the Nethergate area of Dundee, moving to our present premises in 1996. During this time we have built up a large client base from Dundee and surrounding area.

Our friendly receptionists will be happy to make appointments for you or help with any enquiries you may have. If required they can pass you on to one of our qualified nurses or vets who will be able to give further advice in relation to your enquiry.

Our customers' trust is extremely valuable to us and has been built up over the years in the knowledge that all our staff adhere to the highest work ethics. We endeavour to provide care and treatment that is both beneficial and necessary to ensure the well-being of your pets. You can trust that there will be no additional expenses incurred by unnecessary procedures or over-prescribing of medicines.

Out of Hours Emergency Cover

From the 12th of November

For several years our out of hours service has been shared with Blackness Veterinary Practice but this arrangement is ceasing with effect from 12/11/18 and we have had to consider the options available to ensure we meet our legal obligation in regard to emergency cover for your pet out of hours.

Out of hours emergencies are stressful for all involved and as a small 3 vet practice we cannot, in good conscience, ask our staff to double their current on call load. Such an increase would have a decidedly negative effect on their ability to provide first-class care to you and your pet during working hours.

We have therefore taken the decision, in common with almost all local vets, to utilise the new Vets Now night clinic which will be operating in Dundee from 12/11/18 while at the same time taking the opportunity to improve the service we provide by extending our opening hours. (see below)

Clients will continue to call 01382 884411 at all times but out of hours this will take you through to the Vets Now clinic which will be based at Parkside premises in Kings Cross Road, Dundee. This will be continually manned with Vets Now staff in the unfortunate event of your pet requiring emergency treatment out of hours.

We are currently awaiting information packs from Vets Now, but should you have any questions please email us at admin@tayvet.co.uk and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

We hope you will understand this decision and can assure you that we will continue to provide an efficient, effective and friendly service - with you and your pet at the centre of all we do.

New Opening Hours

From the 12th of November

As our team will no longer be covering out of hours emergencies we have taken the opportunity to review and extend our standard opening hours.

We hope that the newly extended opening times will make it easier to book appointments, as many people can struggle due to work, family and other commitments during the day.

Monday to Friday 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Saturday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
