The Practice

Tay Veterinary Centre is an independent, friendly, supportive, family run, 100% small animal practice that has been based in Dundee for over 50 years. Over the years we have built up an excellent clinical team and a loyal, and continually growing client base. The Role

Join our independent, friendly, supportive, family run, 100% small animal practice. We are looking for an enthusiastic full-time veterinary surgeon who relates well with clients and pets as we expand into newly built larger premises. We support and encourage all staff to follow and develop the latest changes in skills and techniques.

You will be well supported by four nursing staff as well as three receptionists and our team of three vets to provide the best service for our growing client base.

We are a well-equipped general practice who are keen to invest and support our clinical team and their special areas of interest. Some of our equipment includes:

  • Anaesthesia System with Oxygen Concentrator
  • 12 Multi-Parameter Monitor
  • Digital X-Ray
  • In-house haematology and biochemistry analysers

Working on average 32 hours Mon-Sat, two days on, one off. Duties include both consultations and surgery with no out of hours work.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic veterinary surgeon who is looking to develop their own future and be part of an excellent clinical team working within an established, growing, very supportive family run practice. CPD paid, RCVS fees paid, 30 days (6 weeks) AL.

Successful Candidate

We are looking for a friendly, approachable and dynamic individual who is able to bring their wide wealth of knowledge and skills to our team. You must have excellent communication skills both with clients and with other staff.

Confident in your own abilities both for consultations and general surgery and always looking to improve and learn new skills ensuring the practice always provides the best possible care for our clients and pets.

Seeking an enthusiastic registered veterinary nurse to join our 100% small animal practice.

Hours range between 8am – 7pm on a rotational basis. There is a 1 in 4 Saturday commitment 9am - 1pm and NO out of hours.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within an established, growing, very supportive family run practice. CPD paid, RCVS fees paid, 32 days (6 weeks) AL.

Excellent customer and team communication is essential. Wage is based on skills and experience.

The job will involve the following duties:

  • Provide nursing clinics
  • Admit patients for surgery / Discharge patients post-op
  • Assist vets for surgical procedures and monitor anaesthetics
  • Lab analysis
  • Assist vets when consulting
  • Dispense prescriptions
  • Give nursing advice to clients as required
  • Prepare operating room for surgery / clean after surgery
  • Record client and animal details
  • Prepare surgical packs
  • Give nursing care to in-patients
  • Ensure kennels cleaned and laundry carried out
  • Cover evening consults to dispense medications and assist vets
  • Provide support to other nurses
